Lleisiau Glannau Teifi - New book recording the history of some of the characters in the Teifi Valley

After retiring after 39 years of teaching at Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, former teacher Dwynwen Teifi has published a unique book, which recounts stories of a variety of characters living in the Teifi Valley in Ceredigion. Lleisiau Glannau Teifi was launched at Y Ffynnon centre in Llandysul, on December 4th 2019, where the author discussed some of the stories of the people featured in the book.

Following her retirement, the author achieved an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and at the end of that course presented her work on, the biographies of local people as well as some additions, under the title, Lleisiau Glannau Teifi which translates to Teifi Valley Voices.

Within the covers of the book, we read about the lives of many farmers and teachers, nurses and mountaineers, harpists and councillors, avid campaigners and evacuees. There are also references to those born outside Wales, and one whose roots take us as far as the country of Chile.

The book is a historical record of a past life, and a lifestyle that has now changed dramatically.

All the individuals have a fascinating story of life as it used to be and the changes they have seen throughout their journey of sixty years and more. This volume provides us with an opportunity to open the door to their lives. Hopefully, the volume will provide the reader with satisfaction and an opportunity to get to know the characters better - Dwynwen Teifi.
