Collection of Welsh monologues by Cefin Roberts launched at Eisteddfod

Cefin Roberts has worked with Peniarth to publish a series of monologues, old and new, in Welsh, for students who study drama at A Level and University level.

With students currently having to search for monologues that are scattered and in many cases not accessible in any way, or having ti translate them into Welsh themselves, this collection aims to provide a central hub where students can access a selection of monologues that they can perform as part of their studies. Cefin Roberts is the editor of the collection, and Cefin has also translated many of the monologues into Welsh. The collection has been published by Peniarth, University of Wales Trinity Saint David's publishing centre.

Gwydion Wynne said, "This new resource is a collection of monologues for male and female students. Many monologues are already available as we know them, but they are scattered, causing a problem for students who wish to perform them. With the help of Cefin Roberts, one of the greats of the Welsh drama scene here in Wales, we have collected over twenty pieces for the resource".

The monologues range from the works of classic playwrights such as Shakespeare, to current Welsh playwrights, such as Aled Jones Williams and Gary Owen, and are available free of charge on HWB Cymru, the Welsh Government's educational resource platform. The volume was officially launched in the National Eisteddfod over the summer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David stand.
