The Centre staff have been busy over the previous months networking and attending numerous events across Wales.
The summer started in Meifod at the end of May at Eisteddfod yr Urdd. We had a full week with numerous activities being held throughout the week, including ‘Llyfr Sychu’n Sych’, ‘Dysgu gyda Cyw’ and various colouring sheets. We were very fortunate to have a daily visit from Cyw presenters reading a story from our Cyw magazine and singing session. Having the company of Mr Urdd at the end of the week was the icing on the cake.
We headed down South at the start of June to Swasnea to attend ‘Gŵyl Tawe.’ This is the first time University of Wales Trinity Saint David and us have attended this event. It was a fantastic day and a great chance to meet new customers and catch up with our faithful customers. Thank you to Menter Iaith Abertawe for organizing a fantastic event at the National Waterfront Museum.
Down to Pembrokeshire we went end of June to Pentre Ifan, the Urdd new environmental and wellbeing Centre to be a part of the ‘Gŵyl Hirddydd Haf’ celebrations. Under the shadows of Carn Ingli, they had the chance to lead on ‘ecoieithyddiaeth’ workshops in the open air with 8 year 5 groups from Pembrokeshire. It was great to hear the learners' ideas as we spoke about the importance of looking after the Welsh language on a national level. It was also a practical workshop with groups creating animals out of foil as a symbol of the Welsh language. Like the red kite that was once very rare, we discussed how everyone can work together to restore creatures and the language of our habitat.
Back to Carmarthen and to Gŵyl Canol Dre the team went at the start of July. This festival is a regular event in the Centre and University calendar as we attend annually. During the day we hosted a ‘Dyna Chi Dric’ workshop for parents. This workshop was a great chance to show the new reading series, including the online activities to accompany the books and the digital books with audio. Click here to read more about Dyna Chi Dric.
First week in August the team headed down to Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd for the National Eisteddfod. It was a fantastic week discussing our provision and talking to customers and teachers, seeing the children enjoy our daily activities and it was great to have the company of Cyw presenters and Stwnsh team daily with a story, song and games session.
Thank you for all your support during these events, we look forward to summer 2025!
